The years are sure to blur together for the doctor, but not for patients. My kids’ pediatrician made a follow-up phone call to us at 7pm when my daughter was 9 months old. She’s 14 years now, and I remember it like it was yesterday.

I can’t believe “Baby Doctor” is out of print. I read it years ago and still remember the story about doing rounds and the poopy baby.

Last year I admitted a girl with what we thought was breast cellulitis. Turns out it was breast “rouge” – discovered when the surgeon went to clean off the area prior to doing a biopsy. She rouged up her boob because she didn’t want to go to band practice. *siiiiigh*

as a new pediatrician and mother of two, i am still basking in all of these things you are listing. i have not been in practice long enough to feel burned out, and i am just so happy to finally be out of residency and have these moments that you are describing! keep em coming!

Thanks for your comment on my blog.. I forgot to mention a funny moment I once had.

I was babysitting a 4 yr old and he had enthusiastically asked me to watch “The NeverEnding Story” with him. I graciously obliged and indulged him. When his mom walked in the door, he said… “MOM!! we’re watching “The NeverEnding Story!!!”……”

Then, he leans over to me and whispers secretly “But don’t worry, it really DOES have an ending!”

Boys are so funny!
